Hello everyone,
It's been a while since we've written an update. I wanted to let everyone know that the show on August 17th in Santa Cruz at the Resource Center for Non-violence will be Like The Ocean's last show...ever.
Last week was a difficult one, full of tough decisions. After much thought and consideration it was decided that it would be best we each go our separate ways.
I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who ever came out to a show, bought a CD, said we sounded great, said we sounded terrible....all the bands we've shared stages with. Both as LSA before and as Like The Ocean today, it's been an amazing ride.
We wish you all the best.
Take care,
Eric and Like The Ocean

Like The Ocean's Debut Album, "The Endless & Unseen"
Hailing from California’s Bay Area, Like the Ocean has just completed their first full-length album entitled, The Endless and Unseen. Band members Eric Padilla (guitar/vocals), Jared Duke (bass), John Miller (guitar/vocals), and Kenny Padilla (drums) derived their aquatically-themed name from a lyric in their song “This is the Moment:” “sway and swell like the ocean.”
Even with a name that seems to insinuate a certain kind of calm, the 11-track compilation is actually a pretty consistent mix of high-energy rock. Heavily filled with electric guitar and strong drum beats, from the get-go on The Endless and Unseen, you get a clear idea of what to expect from Like the Ocean on this album.
“Lucy” has a classic rock vibe to it, allowing both Miller and Padilla to share the vocal reins. Miller and Padilla actually do a good deal of vocal sharing on The Endless and Unseen, a nice departure and something uncharacteristic of most bands.
“Won’t You Listen” slows it down just a little, with Miller playing a little more of a funk-style of guitar. “Afterglow” is probably the most mellow song on the album. It’s mainly acoustic guitar-driven until about 2 minutes into the tune when the electric guitar and tambourine come in.
There is one word that comes to mind when I think of Like the Ocean’s music: contagious. Their melodies, their instrumentals are all extremely and consistently contagious. If you’re looking for a song about summer romance or a slow ballad to dance to with your sweetheart, this isn’t the album for you. This is actually one of the few albums I’ve heard in a long time that consists completely of 100% upbeat and charged-up music.

...More
So, for the four of you who are our only "followers"...
I just want to let you know that we will be posting another video update this weekend, and we invite you to tune in because we've got some cool things to say about ourselves. Haha. We've done a couple of things in the past two weeks that we are excited about, and we'd like to express it to you through video. Wow!
So I'm heading to rehearsal now, where we'll finish up the filming... and we should have the finished result tomorrow or Saturday. You'll find it here, on our blog, and on our myspace page in the blogs section. (myspace.com/liektheoceanmusic)

Lobsters
Our first video update is done and online, after several hours of hard work! It shouldn't take several hours to edit and post a two minute video, so from now on we should have videos up the same day or the day after they were filmed. Fresh. Thank you for your patience and for taking the time to see what's new with Like The Ocean. We're trying really hard to keep you all informed.
We're pumped!

Progress...
There are big changes happening behind the scenes of Like The Ocean. I cannot tell you all of them, but I can tell you that they are all good. We've got this blog up and going and being updated more often than anything else we've done (sorry!), we've got a twitter that we'll all eventually be able to contribute to, and, best of all, we're working hard to bring you webisodes/video updates twice a month. The first one is done and will be posted for your entertainment tomorrow (if we can get our act together). We appreciate you visiting this blog and we hope you are excited to be a part of these new and positive changes.
